About the Artist

Jennifer Wheeler lives in Ontario, Canada on a farm with her husband Josh, their five children, and their many animals whom inspire much of her art.

Since she was a small child she loved to draw.  She and her father would spend countless hours playing "the drawing game" at the cottage, and at home.  Her father would start to draw something, and you would have to guess what it was as you were being timed.  The winner was the one drawing who could get the other to guess what they were drawing the fastest which would certainly encourage your technique to improve if you wanted to win.  Though she has no formal training in Art, she spent countless hours as a child drawing, and going to art camp.  She has been drawing and painting since she was a small child, and could be seen in the living room in a diaper at her little table drawing with crayons and paints on many occasions.

After having children of her own she went on to start a company called Toad and Lily in 2009 with her husband Josh Wheeler where they design and make high-quality personalized gifts and décor.  They set the bar high in the décor and gift-giving industry with their detailed, unique, and creative designs which are brought to life by artist Jennifer Wheeler, and by only using the highest and greenest products available, sourcing them as locally as possible.   Their products are personalized just for you, and all are handmade thanks to their highly skilled wood-craftsman Josh Wheeler right in their shop in Ontario, Canada.

Their farm is set on rolling hills in a valley in The Highlands.  It's a mixture of forest and fields, and is home to their family of seven as well as their animal family which include horses, Highland cattle, ponies, miniature horses, donkeys, a pig, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, a hedgehog, and some fish.  Jennifer's love for animals and nature show in her art as she creates while maintaining to always be a kid at heart.

Both she and Josh lead very busy lives between their children, their business, and farming, and painting has become a really good way for Jennifer to unwind and relax after a long day, and is where she is seen at her happiest.  She has discovered that it is where her true passion resides.  She hopes that her passionate, free-spirited, and child-at-heart way of living shine through in her paintings, and that she can share it with those who love bright, fun designs as much as she does, with lots of colour and a bit of a wild spirit.

When painting, her children are always right at her side, and she always pauses and asks, "what do you think this one needs?" and they always teasingly reply, "more colour," and then laugh, as by that point she's generally used every colour imaginable, which she loves to do.
